Malta - Gozo - Comino Flag of Malta

current temperature in Malta

Malta, Switzerland of the Mediterranean, was our destination in spring 2004. It is the smallest country of the European Union in the south of Europe. Influenced in history by many cultures, it enjoys its independence since 1964. The Republic of Malta consists of the islands Malta with the capital Valetta, Gozo and Comino. We visited the first two mentioned.

In our travelogue we would like to capture our experiences and impressions in words and pictures for all those who are interested in Malta. It is definitely no complete travel guide, but that´s not our intention. For that there are the well-known ones in the shelves of the bookstores. Even if Malta is not very large, one week is not enough in order to see everything.

This trip to the Mediterranean island Malta should become a short relaxing holiday. Thus we had no problems with getting up early at 4.30 a.m. and taking off by an airplane of Air Berlin towards the Mediterranean at 6.30 a.m. After the obligatory stopover in Nuremberg we landed in the springlike (18°C) Malta. We quickly changed some money and got some information brochures at the tourist information office before we were taken to the Hotel Soreda (4 stars) in Qawra. The transfer took 30 minutes. The distances are quite short and due to the well-developed bus system you can get quickly from one place to the other. The longest bus ride on Malta takes about 40 minutes. Since the objects of interest are very close to one another, no stress arises during the holiday.
