Elafonissi - Pearl of the West

After 3 hours of jeep travel into the southwest of the island, past many orange plantations, we reached the Lybian sea with its typically blue crystal-clear water. Here at the most southwestern point of Crete the Cretan and Lybian sea meet in an impressive way. As a result of depositions of land a kind of a strait was formed here in which the sea calms down. In that very shallow water sediments, which gleam in particular in the dusk in tinges of rosa, settle.
